No matter how far your house is, someone’s house is farther than yours.

AFRICAN PROVERB

Have you ever been in this situation, where you want something so badly (say a job, clothe, an opportunity) and you think if only you have that, you will be satisfied and not worry about anything? And then you get what you want and to your surprise, if didn’t satisfy you, like you had hoped? I think we all have! The problem is, we are chasing after these things not because we need them but so we can better than everyone else. To put it in another way, it is comparison that steals our happiness. You see, no matter how far your house is, someone’s house is farther away. The lesson from this proverb is that we need to be content with ourselves and what we have without comparing with others. Comparison is the soil from which many vices grow. Comparison breads jealousy, greed, dishonesty, insecurity, fornication, theft and even murder. If you have to compare, compare yourself to what you are created for, and let that spur you on to your destiny. Be content!
